Color Baggage, a new range of custom-color interior paint developed by noted color consultant and designer Gretchen Schauffler, has launched throughout the North American consumer market.
The Color Baggage collection comprises 11 different color harmonies grouped in Trios (three tints) and Octets (eight tints) of three-ounce Color Baggage Kaboodle Tester Bags, along with a recordkeeping swatch card and instructions on how to view color choices in the home environment.
Most people struggle with choosing paint colors and spend hours and hours scrolling late at night through design feeds, looking at the same wall colors over and over again, splitting hairs over nuances and differences. Then they spend hours and hours at a paint store, looking at paint chips, buying quart samples to test the colors, making mistakes, settling for less, or playing it safe—as if paint color was an unsure bet.
Color Baggage’s highly customized—but relatively inexpensive—home testing process makes color-selection creative and personal, without waste. Schauffler’s “yogurt-stirring” paint recipes come in signature paint finishes such as Seashell-Matt and Silkworm-Satin. The recipes are thick and rich to make painting a pleasurable ritual; hence, the paint products splatter, drip and sag less. They are easy to clean and apply, more durable and low-VOC.
Schauffler works with a single production source and color chemist, who produces proprietary colors pre-tailored to scale for any size wall to ensure predictability in any light. The paint’s base is specifically tinted for color harmony among Color Baggage products.
Kaboodles make it easy to find the right colors, and Schauffler’s formulas make it easy to trust them. Schauffler formulated all her own paint recipes, and each gallon is the product of an artistic process to create color cohesion. Colors are tested in real homes, with natural light and real baggage before making tint formulas. The company works with only one tinter to formulate into proper “wall-size,” which ensures that “what you see is what you get.” And the use of Color Baggage Kaboodles saves the environment from paint mistakes, regrets, and massive amounts of paint waste.
