The stainless steel rod railing from Viewrail is 1/4-inch in diameter, the same size as a cable railing. Rod railing provides the same profile as cable but with advantages. Steel rod won’t sag, can be bent around corners and matches stainless steel posts and handrail to create an integrated railing system. Plus, it doesn’t collect dirt and dust and cleans with a wipe.
The stainless steel rods are made from 2205 Ultra-Marine grade stainless steel; the same stainless steel used for marine propeller shafts, offshore oil rigs and in the rebuilt support structure of the Statue of Liberty. It integrates with other components of a railing system, including posts and hidden fasteners.
Viewrail, based in Goshen, Ind., is a manufacturer of rod and cable railing systems, FLIGHT floating stairs and traditional stair components. A wood shop plus a full steel and aluminum shop permit all product and assembly, testing and shipping to be accomplished in-house.
