Krownlab launches Axel, a sliding barn door hardware system.
Made of one-fourth inch thick carbon steel, Axel is fabricated to showcase the beauty of its industrial, raw material. Exposed three inch bearings and visible fasteners create a product with a raw edge, and the same modern aesthetic found in every Krownlab product.
Axel is available in Raw Steel, which will patina with age and use, and in Black Steel, which will maintain its appearance without chipping or flaking. Available in three standard lengths, Axel is suited for several common door sizes. Since it is made from carbon steel, Axel’s track is easy to cut and drill on the job site, providing the flexibility to fit any combination of door panels and door openings.
Axel has been tested to 130,000 open-and-close cycles, which is equivalent to ten years of heavy use, and is suitable for high-traffic commercial environments, requiring almost no ongoing maintenance. Axel can support door panels up to 200 pounds in weight, and ships within a few days of ordering regardless of size and finish.
Utilizing locally sourced, laser-cut steel, Krownlab fabricates its hardware in Portland, OR, and sells direct in the commercial architectural interiors market throughout North America. Stefan Andrén, a former product design director for Nike and Motorola, founded Krownlab in 2009 to develop architectural products that facilitate interior spaces. All Krownlab products feature a ten year warranty, and every component is manufactured from quality materials and individually tested before leaving its facility.
